Circles of Stone - Medicine Stick

What Is It?

A Circles of Stone Vision Quest is an 11 day rite of passage.

A Vision Quest is a way of marking a transition from one life stage to another.

While it has a structure to it, it is essentially a deeply personal and individual experience. It is a journey into your inner wilderness, mirrored by the outer wilderness in which you find yourself.  It can also be a time for deep rest, reflection and rejuvenation.

A Vision Quest has three phases: Severance, Threshold (Solo time) and Reincorporation.

The preparation for the severance begins the moment  you decide and commit to the Vision Quest.  In preparation for the 11 days, we will send you a Guide that gives you all the information you need.  A month before the Vision Quest begins you undertake a dawn to dusk walk alone - the Medicine Walk.  This is an important part of your preparation for your  time alone on the Vision Quest.

The first phase continues into the first four days we are together. During this time we focus on severance from your everyday life by living in community and preparing physically, emotionally and mentally for threshold time.

The second phase is the threshold, a  four day and night solo fast in the wilderness. During this phase, you are alone, but held safe by the guides and by well established safety checks that you will be informed of. You carry minimal equipment with you - a tarpaulin for shelter, water for sustenance and a sleeping bag and basic personal items for warmth and safety.

At the end of the solo threshold time you will return to the base camp and we enter the final phase, that of integrating your experience and preparing for reincorporation into your life through storytelling.
